Canadian Premier defends oilsands in D.C. visit

If Americans don’t want the oil from Alberta’s lucrative, but hard-to-produce oilsands and try to limit development, places like China and India will be happy to gulp it up, Premier Ed Stelmach cautioned Wednesday.

The U.S. will have a hard time escaping its addiction to oil from politically unstable regions if politicians rise against Alberta’s oilsands and their environmental impact, Stelmach said in Washington during his first foreign speech as premier.
